Residential Staffing Opportunities
This is a rare opportunity to help form the staffing community of MorningSun.
We are searching for talented administrators, development professionals, and inspired educators to further the growth of MorningSun.
We are looking for care-givers and health and sustainability proffessionals to guide programs and development of the center.
We are seeking crafters and artisans who want to live and create sustainably and mindfully in an educational context.
We are beginning to develop collaborations and associations with similar organizations in the region.
If you are interested in exploring any of these opportunities, please read through these pages and contact us directly. We would love to talk to you.
Membership structure
(Our membership structure is slowly being developed. Below is a basic outline.)
With the Education Center as the central element of the practice community, we envision a combination of staff and non-staff community members:
Staff--those who work to directly support the Education Center.
Non-Staff--those who do not work to directly support the Education Center.
Some staff will live in MorningSun's staff housing and others may live in their own homes nearby. (hopefully it will be a community neighborhood "just around the corner")
Another layer of membership is that of the general support members.
Support members are folks who are committed to help in the realization of MorningSun's vision but are not yet ready or are not intending to become staff or live nearby.
General Mailing List
MorningSun also maintains a general mailing list. If you wish to stay informed of our activities, please contact us and let us know.
Resident staff community organization
MorningSun is organized as a combination of All-Member Council, Core-Group Leadership, and area-specific Focus Groups. We envision our organization working something like this:
The totality of MorningSun's staff and non-staff members constitute an All-Member Council. Within the All-Member Council is a Core-Group (staff members only) that looks after matters of vision and quality of practice and that offers guidance to the All-Member Council accordingly. The Core-Group is linked to the Board of Directors of the Mindful Living Initiative and is ultimately responsible for maintaining the direction and process of MorningSun over time. The Core-Group also utilizes the experience of an Advisory Council consisting of persons with substantial experience and skill in educational work, community building and spiritual practice but who are not necessarily members of MorningSun.
The All-Member Council sets up Focus Groups that are responsible for research, planning, and development work in specific areas like Land, Finance, and Curriculum Development. Not all staff must serve in these Focus Groups and non staff may be invited to lend professional expertise or talent.
The decision making process
At the heart of MorningSun's meetings and decision making process is the desire to maintain harmony and support for each other. We strive to establish understanding through mindful communication and the practice of non-attachment to views. This allows us to grow collective insights even when individual ideas are quite different.
Decisions in all groups are arrived at as far as possible through discussion leading to consensus. If consensus is not reached within a reasonable amount of time, a vote may be taken. Such a vote will require a majority to pass.
