Mindfulness Practice
Mindfulness is a basic human faculty that brings awareness to the events of the present moment with the qualities of openness, equanimity, and clarity.
The practice of mindfulness generates mindfulness energy. This energy allows us to embrace and be present with whatever is happening in the moment. It enables us to touch life deeply in the present moment and to discover peace, happiness, and fulfillment in the most ordinary events.
"By the way we look, walk, and breathe we can produce the energies of mindfulness and concentration, allowing us to experience all the miracles of life found right in the here and now."
-Thich Nhat Hanh |
When we sustain the energy of mindfulness over time we can look deeply into our situation, developing understanding for it without bias and judgment. Out of this understanding we can manifest appropriate actions with our body, through our speech, and in our way of thinking.
Mindfulness is a wonderful support for stress reduction, mediation and conflict resolution, anger management, overcoming of prejudice, emotional transformation and healing, as well as healthy and intelligent decision making in everyday life.
Mindfulness is an essential component of many spiritual practices and traditions around the world although it is not always known by that name.
| Like a friend who is always there, mindfulness can be practiced during sitting meditation, while walking, eating, driving, working, speaking, listening, brushing teeth, and going to the bathroom. The more we bring it into our daily lives the more lightness, ease, joy, and understanding we will have. |
