Building MorningSun

Help us Build the Meditation Hall : The first structure on the land

Dear Friends,
Last year we began to build our first gathering space in MorningSun, a small meditation hall. With the guidance and hard work of many it is becoming a beautiful building with vaulted ceiling and arched windows, nestled among the pine trees overlooking the pond.

The frame is built from salvaged and locally harvested wood. The walls are made from straw bales and earth plaster, the windows are pre-used and the insulation a combination of blown-in recycled cellulose and batons of recycled denim.

Through the winter we gathered here, filing through the ornate hand carved wooden door, built by Fern and Peter White, a Sunday Sangha member. Entering the hall, one already senses the peace, clarity, and compassion generated by meditation practice.
This spring and summer we will finish the internal plastering and loaclly milled floor, the window seats, trim and internal doors will be installed.

We have received generous support from many people, across the country, to fund this construction process. Thank you to all who have contributed.
Even so, we still need your help to finish the building and to repay some funds that were kindly lent to MorningSun to get it started.

Please consider making a small or large tax deductible gift.

You can donate for a specific material or part of the building or leave your gift unspecified (and it will go towards framing, labor and other expenses).
