Building MorningSun

Help us Build the Meditation Hall : The first structure on the land

Dear Friends,
It has been four months since we began to build this meditation hall. With the guidance and hard work of many it is becoming a beautiful cozy building with a vaulted ceiling and arched windows, nestled among the pine trees overlooking the pond.

The frame is built from salvaged and locally harvested wood. The walls are made from straw bales and earth plaster, the windows are pre-used and the insulation a combination of blown-in recycled cellulose and batons of recycled denim.

Now with insulation in the floor and ceiling, the hall can stay warm as we begin to work on the inside: plastering the walls and ceiling, constructing wooden window seats, laying the finish floor, tiling the entry and building the hearth and altar.

Total cost of the building is now estimated at $22,000. This is higher than originally estimated. Nonetheless, we are still happy about this goal as it is still very reasonable.

We have a generous donor who is happy to offer $5000 if we can reach a match through your collective contributions.
Please consider making a small or large tax deductible gift.

You can donate for a specific material or part of the building as part of the match, or leave your gift unspecified (and it will go towards framing, labor and other expenses).
